Finally out of Tana again. It's not a bad city (although 5th on the list of most dirty cities in the world, I don't know who's list, but well), but life can get a bit boring. So we set out for Moramanga where grandpa lives and works. The village on the picture is on the way to Ambatondrazaka, the rice heaven of Madagascar (And they need it, with 97kg per person per year, the Malagasy are the biggest rice consumers in the world). Finally. The water comes out of the tap. Although the installation is not of the most advanced type, I must say that the 2 guys that installed it, really knew what to do. And after two months it is for sure nice to just have a nice hot shower. I needed that. Only problem is, that when there is a power cut, we don't have water either. Bon, tsy maninona. Let's not become a snob from one day to the other, right. Ok. Nice showers wherever you are!!

Tatra tunes, is what I said to the 3 year old neighbour-kid. I don't think he minded I was referring to the music of the slowak mountains. What I should have said I learned later today: Samy ho tratrin'ny ho avy. Well I didn't remember even when we're visiting the oldest people in the hood and family. Now I wish you all a very tsara be 2010, with a lot less Karaoke than for me I hope. Take care. CZK

Local wildlife

Veel gebeurt er niet waar Kyra niet bij betrokken is, dus deze blog is wat ondergesneeuwd de laatste tijd. Ik kom zelf ook amper het terrein af, en wat ik meemaak gebeurt hier dus bij ons in de tuin in Mahatony. Zoals ook deze verzameling kameleons. Dit is een greep uit onze voorraad. Er zijn er nog veel meer, maar nog niet allemaal door mij gespot of op de foto gezet. De 'bonne' (zo heet dat dan) schrok zich laatst wezenloos omdat er een plant helemaal vol met kleine kameleonnetjes (zou je dat zo schrijven) zat. Op een van de foto's komt de oma daarvan op bezoek zo lijkt het. Een andere is aan het koorddansen. En ondanks hun ontzettend onhandige loopje (soms vraag je je af hoe zo'n creature zich tot vandaag door de evolutie heeft heen geslagen) kunnen ze toch nog redelijk snel weg kruipen, al raken ze daar ook wel eens door met zichzelf in de knoop. Maar we zijn altijd bereid te lachen om de natuur. Groeten.
